The Affordable Computing Foundation, a completely non-profit (registration pending) and open-source company was started by few students from NIT Trichy. The main goal of the company is to supply cheap computers in rural government schools across the country. The Computers are expected to cost below 7000 per system, complete with keyboard, mouse and monitor. The software and operating system will be Linux based and will have all the essential applications required for IT syllabus up to class 10th.Technology
The system will also include a number of programming and media Applications to deliver e-learning courseware for students (in collaboration with Education dept.) The system will contain software and tutorials for the students to learn basic computing and programming languages like C and Python.
