Now the government has moved care allowance program into Care support payment program in Scotland. The rollout timeline of Carer Support Payment in Scotland is a phased approach. It started with a pilot phase, followed by a rollout in spring 2024, with new claims being accepted in areas such as Angus, North Lanarkshire, and South Lanarkshire from June 24, 2024, and in areas like Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, East Ayrshire, Fife, Moray, North Ayrshire, and South Ayrshire from August 19, 2024.

Currently, the benefit is available in areas including Perth & Kinross, Dundee City, Na h-Eileanan Siar (Western Isles), North and South Lanarkshire, Angus, Fife, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray, North, East, and South Ayrshire. Finally, from November 4, 2024, Carer Support Payment will be available across the whole of Scotland, allowing carers from all areas to apply for the benefit.

Eligibility for DWP New £327/Month Unpaid Care Payment

To be eligible for Carer Support Payment in Scotland, you must normally live in Scotland and have lived in the ‘common travel area’ (UK, Ireland, Isle of Man, or Channel Islands) for a certain period. You must also be aged at least 16, care for someone who receives a disability benefit, and provide regular and substantial care for at least 35 hours a week. Additionally, you must not be earning over £151 (net) a week, and you must satisfy the residence conditions.

  • Lived in the ‘common travel area’ (UK, Ireland, Isle of Man, or Channel Islands) for a certain period
  • Aged at least 16
  • Care for someone who receives a disability benefit
  • Provide regular and substantial care for at least 35 hours a week

Special Backdate feature of program

The backdate feature of the Carer Support Payment in Scotland allows you to receive payments from a date earlier than when you actually applied for the benefit. Specifically, Carer Support Payment can be backdated for up to 13 weeks if you met the eligibility criteria during that period.

This means that if you were eligible for the benefit but didn’t apply immediately, you can still receive payments for the period you were eligible, up to a maximum of 13 weeks. Additionally, there are special backdating rules for student carers, which allow them to backdate their claim to 19 November 2023, the date the principal Carer Support Payment regulations came into force, or to when they met the eligibility criteria, if later.

  • Now you have to provide your ZIP details in the Application page and after that they will ask you to enter your other details to confirm your eligibility
  • Once you reach on the application page You have to enter your national Insurance number in the page, Bank account details, address and date of birth information, etc
  • If the child is under 16 then have to provide Child reference number and after that attach all the documents accordingly
