CPAO is managing the pensioner’s information which stands for Central Pension Accounting Office, which handles pension matters for retired central government employees. The department have started PPO services for the pensioners of the Government of India and after that have also digitised it as e-PPO, or electronic Pension Payment Order, is a digital version of the document traditionally issued to pensioners. This document details the amount of pension a person is entitled to receive.
The CPAO e-PPO system streamlines the pension process. Instead of paper documents, e-PPOs are sent electronically to banks along with digitally signed authorization for payment. This eliminates the need for physical movement of documents and allows for faster processing. More than 65 lakh pensioners will be benefited
According to the data of CPAO approximately 65 lakh citizens in India are receiving pension from Central Government from different departments. All the beneficiaries are receiving the pension facilities through CPAO which is directly managing the payment of the pensioners in their bank account. Officials have already conducted meeting regarding to the DA and FMA of central government pensioners on 6th May of 2024.
