Uttarakhand Mukhyamantri Saur Swarojgar Yojana 2024: The Uttarakhand government has launched various schemes for the welfare of the people of the state with the objective to improve their standard of living. One of them is “Uttarakhand Mukhyamantri Saur Swarojgar Yojana 2024 (MSSY)” that was launched in 2020. The main aim of this initiative is to financially assist the residents in establishing solar power generation units on their land.
They can set up solar power stations with a range of 20 to 200 kilowatts. The state’s Power Corporation also agrees to purchase the generated electricity at Rs 4.64 per unit for 25 years, which will give the person installing a 25kW unit around Rs 70,340 (amount quoted is based on estimates) annual income.
As for financial assistance, the government provides a loan that covers approximately 70 percent of the total installation cost through authorized banking institutions as long as applicants pay for the remaining cost. These loans, which carry an 8% interest rate, can be for up to 15 years.
Also, those who finance their installations themselves/ via bank loans gain the full financial benefits offered by the scheme. In addition to solar energy, the program also enables benefits of herbal farming, growing local vegetables and beekeeping, which helps diversify income, as well as exciting resources and benefits that are essential.

- Average Yearly Earnings: A 25 kW system will generate around Rs 70,340 per year.
- Financing: 70% of installation costs are funded by the government, and homeowners pay for the rest.
- Loan terms: Banks will issue loans for 15 years at an 8% interest rate.
- Application Fee: ₹ 2,000 for 50/100 kW systems; ₹ 5,000 for 200 kW systems
- Contract Performance Guarantee: CPGs of Rs 25,000 for 50 kW, Rs 50,000 for 100 kW, and Rs 1 lakh for 200 kW for two years.

Selection Process for Uttarakhand Mukhyamantri Saur Swarojgar Yojana 2024
- The citizens will be chosen based on their eligibility qualifying criteria.
- Under the scheme, only the citizens of permanent residents of the State of Uttarakhand will be selected.
- If citizens want to install 100 to 200-kilowatt solar panel then he needs the land of nearly 1500-2000 sq. meters.
